If you are making the journey from Ireland, we would love for you to stay a little longer and see some of what makes this part of the world so special.
On the route
Alba Iulia
~50 km · 45 min from venue
Alba Iulia is one of the most historically significant cities in Romania and sits directly on the drive south from Cluj to the venue — a natural stop. The UNESCO-listed Vauban citadel, Alba Carolina, is breathtakingly well-preserved, with massive star-shaped fortification walls, baroque gates, and a grand cathedral. Allow a couple of hours inside the walls.
Must see
Corvin Castle
~18 km · 20 min from venue
Corvin Castle — Castelul Corvinilor — is one of the finest Gothic castles in all of Europe. It rises dramatically from a rocky outcrop in Hunedoara, all towers, battlements, and a stone bridge over a moat. Just 20 minutes from the venue. Genuinely extraordinary. Not to be missed.
Nearby city
Deva
~18 km · 20 min from venue
The capital of Hunedoara County. Deva has a charming historic centre, a hilltop citadel with sweeping valley views, and a good selection of restaurants and bars. An excellent base if you want everything close to hand. Several of our recommended guesthouses are located here or nearby.
Dani's hometown
Orăștie
~5 km from venue
Orăștie is Dani's hometown — a small historic town in the foothills of the Carpathians with roots stretching back to Dacian times. Wander the old streets, stop at a local café, and get a feel for the place at the centre of our story. The Dacian fortress ruins in the mountains above, including Sarmizegetusa Regia, are extraordinary.

The Wider Region
Transylvania & beyond
Beyond these stops, Transylvania has so much more to offer. Sighișoara is a perfectly preserved medieval citadel town. Sibiu is a beautiful Saxon city with a vibrant cultural scene. To the south, the Orăștie Mountains hide the ancient Dacian capital of Sarmizegetusa Regia — a remarkable, remote, and unforgettable site. If you have the time, go.
