Darragh & Dani
Dani was born and raised in Orăștie, a small historic town nestled in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania. Growing up surrounded by ancient fortress walls, rolling green hills, and the warmth of a close-knit community, Orăștie shaped who she is.
It is a place full of history, beauty, and meaning — and it has always felt like home.
When Darragh first visited Romania, he saw it through Dani's eyes — the landscapes, the food, the people, the stories. What started as curiosity quickly became a deep love for a country that felt unlike anywhere else.
Romania has a way of surprising you. The scenery is extraordinary, the history is rich, and the hospitality is genuine and warm. Darragh didn't just fall in love with Dani — he fell in love with her country too.
When we visited Domeniile Streiului together, we weren't sure what to expect. What we found took our breath away.
Set in the rolling hills of the Transylvanian countryside, just outside Orăștie, the venue felt immediately right. The scenery was beautiful. The setting was peaceful. And being so close to where Dani grew up made it feel deeply personal.
We knew within minutes that this was where we wanted to celebrate our wedding.
This wedding is a bringing-together of two worlds — Irish and Romanian, Connacht and Transylvania, pints and țuică. Two families who, despite the miles between them, have so much in common: warmth, laughter, good food, and a great love of a celebration.
